Queensland Rail

Old and new now side by side at the Sandgate Historical Society and Museum.

The Shorncliffe line has seen some major changes, including a re-route through the inner city in 1890 and an extension through to Shorncliffe in 1897, forming the Shorncliffe line we know today.

Throughout our resleepering project more than 436,000 timber sleepers will be replaced with concrete ones, reducing maintenance requirements and increasing the reliability of the network.

We are pleased to be able to donate these sleepers as a way of preserving our history.
Half baked projects, have long term consequences ...
