IRJ --> Western Australia orders additional EMUs from Bombardier and Downer EDI

QuoteWESTERN Australia's Public Transport Authority (PTA) has awarded $A 511m ($US 384m) contract to a joint venture of Bombardier and Downer EDI to supply and maintain 10 B-series EMUs.

Bombardier's share of the contract is valued at $61m. Manufactured at Downer's facility in Maryborough, Queensland, electrical pre-assembly work will be undertaken by Bombardier at its Australian manufacturing facility in Victoria. The first train is scheduled to be delivered by the end of 2019.

The three-car trains will run in Perth and will help to meet the rising challenge of demand for commuter rail services from an increasing suburban population, and will support the Forrestfield Airport line extension which is due to open in 2020.
Half baked projects, have long term consequences ...
