From the Film Australia Collection. Made by the Commonwealth Film Unit 1975. Directed by Barry Williams. People see cities with different eyes. While most cities in the world have big buildings and lots of people there are many facets of city life that may appeal or be repellents - especially to the newcomer. This series of films on Australian capital cities presents the views of migrants who have settled down to live in them. What they see and what they say about Australia's main cities is of interest and value to both the native born city dweller and to the intending migrant. The Viewpoint series is a response, a decade later, to the Life in Australia series and contrasts what the Australian government of the 1960s told migrants about Australia and what those migrants actually discovered when they arrived here.
