Important information about service cost split - how much is spent on staffing costs and how much is spent on everything else.

- Ferries are expensive because usually you need at least 3 staff on board
- Buses are in the middle as although they have 1 staff, the vehicle capacity is low (65-150 passengers)
- Rail is cost-efficient (but could possibly be more so with DOO?) as the vehicle capacity is very high (500-1000 pax). What was a surprise was to see the very high cost of fleet maintenance.

For starters it's a train. Not a bus. Older trains cost a lot more to keep running. Buses just get sold on after a few years. NGR was to dramatically cut down on that but it's just status quo and recent infrastructure projects has only increased that. The 200 refurbs are bringing them into a similar lineup as the 220 with the big blowers getting removed. EMU, SMU200, SMU220, IMU100/120, SMU260/IMU160, NGR all use different parts.
