Travel swift-ly on free public transport

Fans travelling to see Taylor Swift perform this Saturday, 5 December, can shake off traffic hassles with free public transport to and from Suncorp Stadium.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Transport Jackie Trad said pre-purchased ticket holders could travel for free to the concert on all Queensland Rail City Network trains and Brisbane Transport buses from 12pm on Saturday until 2.30am on Sunday.

"Taylor Swift fans can avoid traffic hassles, with public transport the ideal way to travel to Suncorp Stadium as Milton and Roma Street station are only a short walk from the venue," Ms Trad said.

"The stadium also has its own bus station under the Southern Plaza which allows shuttle buses from across the city to drop off and pick up customers direct from the heart of the entertainment so public transport really is the quickest and easiest way to get to the concert."

Shuttle buses travelling to the concert will operate at a high frequency from Adelaide and Makerston streets in the Brisbane CBD between 5.30pm and 8.20pm.

From 5.30pm until 8.10pm, Suncorp Stadium bound shuttle buses will also run at regular intervals from Eight Mile Plains and Upper Mount Gravatt busway stations, as well as Carindale and Chermside bus interchanges. Shuttle buses will also run every 30 minutes from Waterworks Road, The Gap during this time.

Ms Trad said additional trains would also operate to transport fans to and from Suncorp Stadium.

"Between 5.40pm and 6.45pm, six extra trains will run on the Caboolture and Ipswich lines to take concert goers to Milton station," Ms Trad said.

"After the event, a further 15 trains will depart Milton and Roma Street stations on the Beenleigh, Gold Coast, Cleveland, Ferny Grove, Ipswich and Caboolture lines between 10.35pm and 11.30pm.

"Shuttle buses will also operate for one hour after the concert, departing from the stadium bus station or from Given Terrace for buses travelling to The Gap.

"As with all concerts, I encourage fans to pre-plan their journey and arrive well before Taylor Swift and her support act Vance Joy take to the stage from 7.15pm."

They obviously haven't learned from previous events that they need extra trains on the other lines.
