Sunshine Coast Line : Delays for OCTOBER 2015

October delays thus far ... to SC commuters.
This is my 51st month of detailed daily data recording.

UPDATE: The Qld State Government has announced the start of the Caloundra South 'Aura" development, by Stocklands.
It was 'called in' by the State Government and forced upon the Sunshine Coast council.
It will mean a city the size of Gladstone (50,000 people) at the foot of the Sunshine Coast within 10 to 30 years. Over 20,000 homes!
No rail improvement infrastructure has been announced in light of this massive development, the largest of its' type in Australia.
The Sunshine Coast population stands at 335,000 people in the 2013 census.
Compare us to the 6 suburbs of Greater Springfield e.g., with a population of just 24,000 in 2013, and they got a duplicated rail track to service their community.
Our Sunshine Coast single line track (from Beerburrum) is also shared with freight trains up to Cairns and long-distance trains as well as the urban passenger services.. and we get nothing!!!
It is sheer negligence on the part of the State Government NOT to announce rail transport infrastructure for a project of this magnitude.



The times reported below do not take into account the 3 minutes and 59 second allowance that QR's service contract to TRANSLink allows.
A Sunshine Coast, Rosewood or Gold Coast train e.g. can be up to 5 minutes and 59 seconds late and still considered statistically to be 'on-time'.
All times shown below are actual arrival times, all times taken from when train becomes stationary, and before doors open.
NO times are rounded up.

Under my system, early arrival times at destinations are actually subtracted from my TTL (total time lost) figure,
in addition, arrival times less than 2 minutes late are NOT added to these figures.
Only when services are 2 minutes late or more, will my TTL figure increase.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
I believe that Queensland Rail do a superb job given the extreme infrastructure limitations on the Sunshine Coast line.
Our 2 new train services may have longer express legs (14 stations) - but they take just as much time (Roma St to Nambour) as our (9 station) express leg services.

The major factor required to permanently improve the line is rail duplication to Nambour, and, at a cost benefit ratio of 2.285, it's great value for money.
Astonishingly, rail congestion between Caboolture and Nambour was identified as "a major overall impediment" to the ENTIRE 1669 km North Coast Line from Brisbane to Cairns.
Also astonishingly, 42% of our daily train services are in fact rail buses (Caboolture to Nambour), 26 per day - 13 (40.63%) northbound and 13 (43.33%) southbound.
These buses traverse the road network acting as trains due to the freight shared congestion of the predominately single track line.


UPDATED DAILY
Is it more reliable?  Short answer is yes, it is. Massive improvement to my services based upon these statistics.

Re: Toilets; should I forget to check their status, the default has been to always assume that they are working and in order.
This check ONLY applies to the front 3 carriages in the direction of travel.
