Went to have a look at Salisbury railway station today.  Possibly an important junction station should the Beaudesert - Salisbury rail 3'6" commuter rail corridor addition ever eventuate (not the freight line, separate).  Presently there is car parking at the station, estimate around 70 spaces, but also verge parking on the other side (probably at least 80 or so ).

Some photographs. Lots of space.  No DDA compliance.  Toilets were open too when I was there!  Station staff still in attendance.

I Dont miss having to walk to work from there every morning anymore, now I can sleep in until 5.30am and still arrive
at work on time. I like having a car again  : ;D ;D

Will you still like the car when petrol is $5 per Litre?

Don't worry, you can catch the train then ...   :D

What was the name of the next station that is now just a derelict platform beside Beaudesert road. I remember the station as a kid, I think the Station Master was also the gate keeper who opened and closed the swinging gates across Beaudesert road .

Was it Nyanda?

Indeed, it was; closed in November 1978, leading up to electrification.

Thanks.. ( that explains why Salisbury High was renamed to Nyanda )
When were the Swing gates replaced with Boom gates. I'm sure the Swing gates were still there late 60's.

The gates at Nyanda were operated by the signalman from a signal box that was locared on the Salisbury side of Beaudesert Road between the ng lines and the SG line, the box there was a staff station for the SG the sections being Nyanda - Greenbank and Nyanda to Clapham.
It was unique in that it was probably the only staff atation between two sections which had no provision to allow trains to pass or overtake.   :lo

Salisbury has now been added to the TL Park and Ride list ( I let them know it was missing yesterday).
