Premier welcomes appointment of DG Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has endorsed the appointment of Mr Frankie Carroll to the role of Director-General, Department of Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning following the recommendation of the independent recruitment panel.

Premier Palaszczuk said following a further search, more than 105 applications were received for the key appointment, which included interest from international candidates.

"Mr Carroll is a highly regarded senior executive with experience in both private and public sectors and is an exceptional leader," Ms Palaszczuk said.

"His track record in undertaking the largest reconstruction program in the nation's history has been impressive."

Ms Palaszczuk said in his current role as Chief Executive Officer of the Queensland Reconstruction Authority he has been responsible for delivering a reconstruction program worth more than $13 billion.

"Prior to this role, he also provided the expertise and leadership to deliver major water infrastructure facilities as Chief Executive Officer of Queensland Water Infrastructure," she said.

Ms Palaszczuk said Mr Carroll has a thorough understanding of Queensland's infrastructure needs, having held senior executive roles with multiple industry disciplines spanning construction, finance and service organisations.

"Mr Carroll brings to the role a strong skill set in strategy formulation, risk management, project delivery, all financial aspects of business, contract negotiation, resource utilisation, and establishing integrated governance and risk frameworks," Ms Palaszczuk said.

"He has led high performing teams, takes a collaborative leadership approach, and has demonstrated a strong track-record of successful outcomes."

Ms Palaszczuk said the recruitment process for the Director-General of Department of Science, Information Technology and Innovation is continuing.

The independent recruitment process was chaired by the Public Service Commission's Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mr Robert Setter and also included Ms Lynelle Briggs AO, Chairperson of the NSW Planning Assessment Commission and Mr Jim Hallion AM, Coordinator-General, South Australia.
