The AM peak period includes services commencing after 6.00am and arriving at Central before 9.00am.

The PM peak includes services that depart Central after 3.30pm and arrive at their terminating destination before 6.30pm.

From http://www.queenslandrail.com.au/RailServices/City/Pages/On-TimeRunning.aspx

QuoteThe on-time running of City network services is a priority for Queensland Rail. We make every effort to ensure our services adhere to the published timetable.

Our on-time running performance targets are the most stringent in Australia. We aim to have more than 94.53% of our peak period services arrive. All services, including peak and off-peak, are measured on time when they arrive within three minutes and 59 seconds of their scheduled time (5 minutes and 59 seconds on interurban services; ie Gold Coast, Rosewood and Nambour).

Sometimes incidents beyond Queensland Rail's control may delay our services (force majeure). Such incidents may include onboard medical emergencies, security incidents, vehicles striking level crossing boom gates or severe weather activity. Because these incidents are out of Queensland Rail's control, they are not included in the contractual results. However Queensland Rail recognises delays, regardless of their cause, affect customers, and this is reflected in the customer impact figures.

Data presented is for the morning and afternoon peak periods over the past five days.

the other day took the inbound 4.43 inbound @ petrie train...it arrived into the station 5 mins late....due to reduced speeds aroud where bridges are being contructed and a couple of other pauses..... it arrived into northgate about 7-8 mins behind schedule....was quickly changed to an express northgate -EJ - bowen hills.....arrived into central about 1-2 mins late......voila.....

Repeated requests to have the number of trains that have altered running (skip stations) reported has fallen on deaf ears so far.

It is reasonable to skip stations on balance, but it should be clearly reported to give a fairer indication of overall performance.

Did you guys hear that mechanical and maintenance faults can now be force majeured? They got 100 OTR on lines affected by the service with loose panels on the air-conditioning unit last Thursday.

Until QR start including services that that skipped stations into their on-time statistics, then the stats are not worth the paper they are written on. Complete lies and BS!

There's no problems with altering stopping patterns to regain time but the service should be considered cancelled from the time it deviates from the stopping pattern in the standard working timetable.

+1.

By and large I don't think there is a major issue with what they are doing.  What needs to happen is:
- Better communication about train service changes.  Most stations still don't have PIDS but all trains do have guards, so these announcements should be made at every stop the varied train stops at.  We still see reports of people boarding trains unaware the stopping pattern has already changed.
- Accurate reporting to account for all non-delivered services, including the specific reason.
