As an aside:
Makes you wonder in SEQ, why the endless stuffing around with putting inter-urban up to Toowoomba and sprinter trains on the Downs!  A blindly obvious opportunity.....
SEQ, where our only "fast-track" is in becoming the rail embarrassment of Australia!   :frs:

Because it's a 4 hour trip up the range?  There's no overcoming geometry.

Not sure what the confusion is?

Toowoomba has a long winded climb up the range full of turns, so on the current alignment a diesel sprinter would be 1-2h slower than the coach service.

So its not worth doing.

But if inland rail gets built it would shorten and straighten the line enough to make such a service possible.
