Brisbanetimes --> Old Cleveland Road eyesore at Coorparoo set for $125m revamp
QuoteA landmark Coorparoo site roundly condemned as an eyesore is set for a $125 million transformation in a similar style to the CBD's Barracks development.

Three residential towers up to 19 storeys tall offering 366 apartments are slated for the run-down 12,000 square metre site at 267 Old Cleveland Road that once housed a Myer store.

More than 4000 square metres of mixed commercial and retail space and a cinema are also planned at the ground and podium levels ...

... Cr Cooper said the site, which also allows for the State Government's planned Eastern Busway extension, would reinvigorate the local economy as well as providing a new style of residential accommodation in the inner-east.

"This development will boast excellent connectivity to the CBD and South Brisbane, enabling residents to adopt convenient and sustainable travel choices including bus or train, walking and cycling," she said.

"As Brisbane's population continues to grow, the provision of a mixture of one, two and three bedroom apartments in an area traditionally dominated by detached housing and small-scale units will greatly improve housing choice in Coorparoo." ...
Half baked projects, have long term consequences ...
