Bus Layover Space - South Brisbane

There are a large volume of buses terminating at Cultural Centre. Most of these are terminators from the West/North.

I think as part of redevelopment plans in the South Brisbane area, a dedicated space for bus parking, layover and driver facilities should be considered. This can be integrated into development if desired - little different to car parking under a building. There could also be parking underneath the rail bridge, which is land that is difficult to repurpose for development anyway.

There are examples of bus layovers at Wooloongabba and Countess St. These seem to be quite full at times.

On a similar note, I've often wondered why the only route that goes to GoMA is the 444.

The solution is simple: stop terminating buses at the Cultural Centre. Goodness knows why buses like the 300 and 322 need to be there, even arguably the 333/444. I would focus on creating bus layovers in the southern area of the CBD.
Is it really that hard to run frequent, reliable public transport?

One of the simplest fixes would simply be running more services through to Roma St from the south in lieu of the QSBS and using the QSBS to terminate routes from the north and west coming via Roma St.

Does anybody actually use the GoMA extension?

Cultural Centre is a logical place to terminate many services because it is at the end of a chokepoint and thus permits easy onward transfer. Network redesign will not eliminate the need for CC terminators.

For starters redesign the network to cut down on the number of routes going there and to the city in the first place. Extend the northside routes to the Gabba to utilise the area there. Not to sure about the southside but extend some routes to RBWH considering all the 66 drivers already do that for their smoko break under the overpass. Extend 111 to Kedron to utilise the high capacity rollingstock (I've had this argument with people before but considering the majority of it will be along a dedicated busway there shouldn't be many issues with timetabling - if anything make it prepaid).

Space there appears to be limiting and it is further away from the terminus point = higher operating costs. Cheapest option IMHO is to store the buses near CC. There is a separate and good case for getting more services to end at RBWH and then layover near the park there.

The only reason that I'd like to see the CC terminus moved to the Gabba is because it's common to have a couple buses blocking the entire busway because they want to turn right. Admittedly its been a while but a couple times I have seen 345/3XX blocking the entire SEBW/West End services because they want to turn right during peak hour. That being said I have seen them commonly doing it during off peak but getting away with it due to the lack of buses in and around that area.
