A BUS driver who stopped a bus full of school students on lines in front of a train at Torrens Park, South Australia, on Wednesday has been suspended.

The bus, which was carrying about 70 Unley High School students, stopped part-way across the tracks and was hit by the boom gate on Grange Rd.

The driver got off to wave to alert a train that was at the nearby station.

Lucy Ormsby, 14, and a Year 8 student at Unley High School, said students were left confused and scared.

"The driver couldn't reverse because there were cars behind us but I don't know why he didn't try to go forward,'' she said ...
