So I understand that the Oxley Railway station is also touted as a significant rail/bus interchange... and exists as a bus option Zone 4 while a rail option Zone 3.

So am meeting up with friends at the Jindalee Tavern on Goggs road, which is part of the significant Jindalee Homemaker centre and across the road from the Jindalee DFO... but whereas I used to be able to catch an hourly bus from the Oxley Rail/Bus interchange and travel in Zone 4 to Zone 4, alas this is not longer..

Now the Journey Planner tells me the best option is to catch the train to Toowong - 7 stations away and almost to the CBD and then walk 300m back to the bus stop 14A and catch the 450 bus and travel in three Zones - 2-4 for a 40 minute transit....

So not only have punters appear to have lost a bus service, they get to pay for a three zone travel instead of a single zone and an approx 45 minute journey instead of the previous 10 minutes.

What really gives me the  :pr :steam: :-w :yikes: about this situation is that I try as much as possible to support public transport by catching it to events such as tonights get together and then advising my friends that I was able to arrive safely, conveniently and in an environmentally friendly manner via the wonder of public transport....but alas not tonight .....

Might have to try the non public transport disruptive transport service recently made available in Brisbane....

Well on weekdays you could catch a 467 and today you can either get a 106 and get off around Edenbrook and walk or all the way to Mount Ommaney and then get the 450 back to Jindalee all within zone 4

Current BT/BCC modus operandi....
1. if non prioritised coverage services arent getting enough patronage cut them back or cut them altogether
2. prioritised busway services get multiple frequent services REGARDLESS of how empty they are...case in point the 222/200/61 or 330/340/333

They will look at patronage numbers only when it suits them and someones BUSWAY ego...ever heard this statement?.. "our busways have a bus passing thru every x seconds"...

Prime example...apparently pinkenba doesnt deserve any weekend services (303) despite being a stones throw from a depot....yet corparoo deserves an inherant amount of services eg: 204/203/222/200/209....regardless of air carrying capacity...

quite a few handy connecting suburb to suburb services have been lost/affected so they can run more air to carindale/chermside.
BT will be heading in a totally "new direction" with new leadership...heard this yesterday from a 20+ years BT worker...

And if you want to go inbound, have fun walking across the highway to the nearest inbound 450 stop! This is for an hourly service, too... If you look at Google Maps/Google Transit, even if you turn up 1 minute before the correct train arrives at Oxley to connect to a 450 at Toowong, provided you walk at 6km/hr, it is actually faster to walk from Oxley to Jindalee than catch the bus!

As I understand, the 468 was a community reaction to possible parking/overcrowding at DFO. Of course, the Jindalee DFO really hasn't taken off, and hence parking really hasn't been that bad either. Hence, BCC took the axe to the 468 service, instead of seeing what was right/wrong with it and trying to make the route more attractive to customers (if that is possible).

That area generally is poorly suited to PT. Sinnamon Park is an anti-PT mess, Seventeen Mile Rocks north of Monier Rd has very little walk-up patronage, and once you finally get towards areas with more PT-friendly development you are within walking distance of Oxley station anyway.

With relation to BCC's priorities - it is only to pork barrel services to places where it wishes to gain votes and ensure that rail gets as little patronage as possible. Nothing more. 468 is a non-Citybound rail feeder service, so what do you do? CUT CUT CUT. P457/P458/P459 City-bound prepaid peak-hour rockets? KEEP ALL THE ROCKETS! :fp:
Is it really that hard to run frequent, reliable public transport?

Thanks for the replies - I ended up ordering a vehicle via an online app and it turned up within 5 minutes at 6.05pm and at 6.0pm I was walking in the front door of the Jindalee Hotel - at a cost of $11 ... love this type of disruptive technology :-)

Yes James indeed I did check out getting back home via public transport ... wow - If I walked around 2km I could catch a series of buses and a train heading via Mt Ommaney and Toowong and taking at least 1 hour and 15 mins - much easier to walk ... but given we were at the Jindalee Hotel till midnight.. I lucked out and caught a lift with one of the friends who drove...

Was around this area yesterday....(jindalee bowls around burrendah rd)......actually very easily accesible from archerfield..110-103-450..good wait times...

Sundays to DFO jindalee from the mt ommaney area

I concur....
Was hoping to get to dfo from jindalee bowls...ironically its in plain as day viewing distance from there but because of the street layouts/ bus routing....one actually has to backtrack (450 inbound then outbound) from indoroopilly to access that dfo precint on goggs rd :fp:
The 467 fulfills this mtommaney to dfo role perfectly...but we all know that story....

A service from oxley should be retained accross the weekend to make the precint better acessible for public transport users......we can only dream though....

It is anti-public transport locations where TaxiBus services could be deployed. These smaller vehicles can get into narrow streets, much better handling than a bus, uses less fuel and can be fixed, semi-fixed or fully flexible with or without using bus stops as pick up points.

Buses on fixed routes providing coverage is good but not perfect - there is no guarantee that the bus stop is located directly outside the home of a person who cannot walk. It could be a good 400m-500m away.
