Media Release 24 April 2009

SEQ:  QR Passenger Community Reference Groups - Welcome Initiative

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport users has congratulated QR Passenger on the implementation and continued expansion of the QR Passenger Community Reference Groups (1).

Volunteer members of these groups are given the opportunity to provide feedback and input into rail services and train timetable improvements.  Information on various aspects of the QR Citytrain network and operation is presented at bi-monthly meetings.

Robert Dow, spokesman for RAIL Back On Track said:

"The Ipswich Citytrain line Community Reference Group commenced last October.  Since that time we have seen a number of improvements particularly additional morning peak services which were suggested by group members."

"The Ipswich line group was the first, since then a number of Community Reference groups for other QR Citytrain lines have commenced."

"We would encourage QR Citytrain commuters who have an interest in improved outcomes for their community to check out the information on Community Reference groups at the QR Citytrain web site."

"Active participation will ensure that your views are heard!  QR Passenger is actively seeking expressions of interest, just follow the link on the QR Citytrain website at  www.citytrain.com.au."

"Well done QR Passenger!"

A little birdie tells me that QR proposes changes to Community Reference Groups function /operations.  Is it true and are there any ideas as to what's proposed?

ozbob

Some changes have been flagged, a meeting will be held towards the end of February to explain the proposed changes.

I have no idea what is proposed.
