Policy released today wrongly indicated we supported an opt out system of internet filtering. That is not our policy and never has been.

Position is Coalition will encourage carriers to make software available for parents to install on own devices to protect kids.

In other words - no mandatory filter, no opt out filter, but support parents taking resp'y for their own kids' activity online.

@TurnbullMalcolm Thanks for the clarification. Now tell me the cessation of urban rail was a policy blunder too? #ausvotes #auspol

If you look at Page 7 of the Coalition's policies for the election, it's quite clear, there was an internet filter planned for, but thanks to the Internet (ironically), they've been forced to backflip on it.  Probably the fastest backflip in history.

What a cock up. They wanted to sneak this filter in while the advertising blackout period was in effect, then they got caught and are now backtracking a billion miles an hour to save their @$$es. Thanks to whoever out there noticed this :)
