The Transport Minister has confirmed this morning on 612 ABC Radio Breakfast that the date for the new timetable implementation is 6th June 2011.

Announcements are expected early next week.

There must be some changes to the drafts? I recall that the timetables were to be released early-2011. That's mid-2011! I guess we'll find out next week.

Presumably the minister's announcement will be about the final drafts.  She will release the revised timetable, honouring the 'early in 2011' undertaking.  A June 6 start-up date gives Translink a 3-month window to devise a coordinated bus timetable and for TransLink to then print up new timetables AND change its website.

There's a good body of work amongst that lot.

We can expect budget implications flowing from the changes.  That will have to be covered off in a 2011-12 state Budget, so it is not surprising that the new timetable start-up date is beyond the beginning of the new financial year.

Perhaps we should turn our active attention to the new bus timetable linking to the new train service, and also the layout of the paper timetables.  Since there will be changes to the Translink website, what additional changes are needed?

Email received this morning from Deputy Operations Officer at QR

I am pleased to advise that the Minister for Transport, The Honourable Annastacia Palaszczuk MP, today announced that the new timetable will be implemented on 6 June 2011. The new timetable and consultation report can be accessed via the translink website.

Note Added : Information cannot be found on website - have requested the link or information direct.

Prior to the 2011 flood events, I understand that the timetables would have been likely implemented March/April this year.  The flood events, particularly the constant rain did cause some issues with a number of the suburban units.
This possibly the reason why the date is now 6th June 2011.

I suppose on the bright side there is a bit more time to re-align the buses with the new timetables in a more effective manner.

Hopefully the final timetables might be publicly available next week.

As there is still around 3 months before the new Ipswich - Caboolture timetables (which includes Richlands) I think QR/TransLink should fix the botched interim Richlands timetable that has shuttle trains on the branch missing connections by a minute or so.  Hopeless, it has been pointed out privately a number of times and it is time to go public in an attempt to sort it.

A bit disappointing for me.  Looks like there will be no substantive improvement to the timetables before they are implemented.

No mention of when the "other" lines will get their timetable consultation, let alone a new timetable  :(

I think this shows that any improvement to the timetable will be mediocre outside of peak hour.

How do you figure that?

Because nothing was improved in the IPS-CAB corridor off peak that wasn't driven by the Richlands branch.

New train timetables coming early June

More train services and new timetables are coming to the Ipswich, Rosewood, Caboolture and Sunshine Coast lines from early June.

Community consultation on the timetable changes for the Caboolture and Ipswich lines took place during November and December 2010.

TransLink and Queensland Rail have worked through about 2000 pieces of feedback - gathered at community sessions, online and over the phone - as part of this review.

TransLink will also update several bus routes to continue connectivity with train stations and the improved train timetables.

New train and bus timetables and the consultation report will be available on this website in coming weeks.
