Brisbanetimes --> New tech to automatically detect SEQ public transport breakdowns

QuoteArtificial intelligence could be used to automatically detect breakdowns on south-east Queensland busways and count passengers on train platforms to prevent delays on the daily commute.

TransLink has released tenders calling for experts to design new systems to count passengers and identify incidents such as vehicle breakdowns or animals on busways. ...

As stated previously,  it would be so much better for everyone, including TransLink if they did what Sydney does.

Twitter account for each line.  This hash tag stuff is prone to constant error ...   :steam: :fp:

With only 6% of the population on Twitter, why even bother with Twitter alerts?

I think among public transport passengers it is a bit higher than that.  But the way TransLink runs it with fuking hashtags and cryptic sh%t very confusing.

All they need to do is just have line accounts as per Sydney.  I am sick of suggesting how it could be sorted and be very useful.

Whilst we are talking Twitter feeds and having to redo the links to automate them. Does it make sense to have a separate Twitter handle for Rail Back on Track Feed to the discussion so the latter aren't swamped by the update feeds! Just an idea.

I have been thinking of stopping it because of the constant issues with hashtags TransLink end.

With the latest changes it is just all too time consuming to maintain it properly, so I have stopped the feed.
(still updating threads at my test site > https://railbot.info/forum/index.php?board=11.0 it is good to see the relative number of reported disruptions).

TransLink have the stupidest framework for this stuff, all they need to do is have line and region specific handles as detailed earlier in this thread. Sydney does this and it works very well of course.

Had enough for now.

ozbob

^ agreed.  I suggested years ago to follow the Sydney model (earlier in this thread).

Vastly superior and not dependent on hashtags, which they make constant errors with.

The Translink RSS Feed is still non functional.  I emailed them again this morning asking if it was going to returned to functionality and when.  No response so far.

Queensland Rail X (twitter) is still not retweeting the rail service disruptions.

Just another day in paradise lost ...  :woz:
