Sunshine Coast Line : Delays for JANUARY 2013

January delays thus far ... to SC commuters.

The times reported below do not take into account the 3 minutes and 59 second allowance that QR's service contract to TRANSLink allows.
A Sunshine Coast, Rosewood or Gold Coast train e.g. can be up to 5 minutes and 59 seconds late and still be considered 'on-time'.

In my opinion, when the public hear the words "on-time performance" they would assume this means what it says.
But for TRANSLink, the authority now under TMR jurisdiction and tasked with overseeing public transport, this is NOT the case and 'spin' is used to obfuscate the truth by changing the definition of 'on-time'.

It also does wonders for off-time performance figures.
All times shown below are actual arrival times.
Early arrival times are noted and subtracted from the TTL (total time lost), times less than 2 minutes late are NOT added to these figures.

N.B.
The Government and Queensland Rail recently announced the regular availability of on-time performance statistics showing contractual (events within QR control) and customer impact (i.e. force majeure or acts of God) performance statistics on a line by line basis, for peak services only.
This is a first and is to be applauded. Thank you Queensland Rail.
A perfect score by this author would be obtained by the provision of off-peak service statistics under the same criteria.

Re: Toilets; should I forget to check their status, the default has been to always assume that they are working and in order.
This check ONLY applies to the front 3 carriages in the direction of travel.

No working toilets: loo-dicrous

Maybe SC trains could be equipped with shovel and bog paper in a glass container with the words 'break glass in an emergency'.  Passengers wanting to spend a penny could get off as train slows to snail's pace through the national park around Eudlo, then run along the track to catch up.
