December delays thus far ... to SC commuters.

The times reported below do not take into account the 3 minutes and 59 second allowance that QR's service contract to TRANSLink allows.

In my opinion, when the public hear the words "on-time performance" they would assume this means what it says.
But for TRANSLink, the authority now under TMR jurisdiction and tasked with overseeing public transport, this is NOT the case and 'spin' is used to obfuscate the truth by changing the definition of 'on-time'.

A Sunshine Coast, Rosewood or Gold Coast train e.g. can be up to 5 minutes and 59 seconds late and still be considered 'on-time'.
Interestingly, this point was omitted in the Independent Audit into the reliability of Queensland Rail's south-east Queensland network Final report, dated June 2012 and prepared for the Transport Minister, Hon. Scott Emerson MP.

It also does wonders for off-time performance figures.
All times shown below are actual arrival times.
Early arrival times are noted and subtracted from the TTL (total time lost), times less than 2 minutes late are NOT added to these figures.

N.B.
The Government and Queensland Rail recently announced the regular availability of on-time performance statistics showing contractual (events within QR control) and customer impact (i.e. force majeure or acts of God) performance statistics on a line by line basis, for peak services only.
This is a first and is to be applauded. Thank you Queensland Rail.
A perfect score by this author would be obtained by the provision of off-peak service statistics under the same criteria.

7 minutes late into Central  Train ran express from Petrie to Bowen Hills, stopping at Northgate, to save time. Ironically, no time was saved.
We departed Northgate 7 minutes late and arrived Central 7 minutes late. The train crawled during the extra express leg, and was no faster than stopping all stations.
