Sunshine Coast Line : Delays for AUGUST 2012

August delays thus far ... to SC commuters.

The times reported below do not take into account the 3 minutes and 59 second allowance that QR's service contract to TRANSLink allows.
Further to this contractual allowance, TRANSLink allow trains from the Gold and Sunshine Coasts to be 6 minutes late before being recorded as such.

In my opinion, when the public hear the words "on-time performance" they would assume this means what it says.
But for TRANSLink, the authority tasked with overseeing the public transport system, this is NOT the case and 'spin' is used to obfuscate the truth by changing the definition of 'on-time'.

A Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast train e.g. can be up to 6 minutes late and still be considered 'on-time'.
This of course does wonders for their on-time performance figures.
The times shown below are actual times.

UPDATED DAILY
Before the June 6, 2011 timetable 'improvements', a trip from Palmwoods to Roma Street station, a distance of 97.3 km, took 103 minutes.
Average speed = 56.68 km/h

Today that same trip takes 109 minutes.
Average speed = 53.56 km/h

A 5.83% increase in journey time.

Man with 2 very small children was not impressed, said he'd be peeved if the toilets weren't working as he walked past me, he managed to change to the rear 3 carriages to find working toilets.

14 minutes late into Central Station  30 minutes delays expected and broadcast, shown here for record purposes only.
Taxi from Palmwoods to Landsborough, missed 6:42am train by ~2 minutes and watched the boom gates fall.
EMU 3 car shuttle waiting at Landsborough  :-t carried us to Caboolture, connected with 6:24am EMU Caboolture to City service.
No Toilets on EMU and SMU train (that was missed) :thsdo

All in all a good result given the disruptions caused by copper thefts along the Sunshine Coast line from Caboolture up to Gympie North. Thank you Queensland Rail.  :-t

36 minutes late into Central  Copper theft impacts, bus from Palmwoods to Landsborough (missing connecting 6:42am train), next train (7:08am) cancelled due to mechanical issue at Nambour, caught 7:25am Gympie North train into the city. ICE set reappeared after some months away, a few pax were standing from Landsborough.

Major delays reported to me, ranging from 45 min's and up to to 2 hours due to a track fault (break) and power outage at Morayfield-Burpengary. Buses were used to transport passengers. These times are not recorded here as they were not experienced by myself, who was on an annual leave day.

47 minutes late into Central  Double delays on double days. Signal fault at Station Rd Morayfield Crossing adding 20 minutes, this was then followed by truck through Geebung boomgates adding another 27.

Sadly a drunk indigenous lady was on the train from Roma St., complete with bottle inside paper bag. She asked for toilets and was told they were at the front carriage of the IMU train, she didn't get far, instead she proceeded to relieve herself between carriage 2 (IM 5107) and carriage 3 (IM6107). Just when I thought I'd seen everything ...
