SEQ: Core Frequent Network: Bulimba/Balmoral BUZ and Centenary BUZ should be
priorities for next BUZification

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport passengers calls for 'BUZification' of buses to Bulimba/Balmoral and the Centenary Suburbs.

Robert Dow, Spokesman for RAIL Back On Track said:

"RAIL Back On Track members have long argued that the fastest, cheapest way to improve the public transport system in Brisbane is a targeted, selective boost of services on fast arterial roads to properly link the CBD with the suburbs, and the suburbs with each other, and improvements in the rail service out of peak train frequency (1)."

"On January 2nd 2012, TransLink fares will be increased by 15%, and there needs to be service improvements to compensate for this, particularly in suburbs where high quality, high frequency services do not yet exist. It is only fair that if the price goes up, service levels should go up to to maintain value for money."

"It is surprising that a built-up inner city suburb like Bulimba, with the cinema and popular restaurant district does not have a BUZ service. Bulimba has serious parking issues and even on weeknights side streets are parked out full of cars on both sides of the road!"

"The Centenary suburbs of Jamboree Heights, Jindalee, Middle Park, Mt Ommaney, Riverhills and Westlake are a large gap in the BUZ network. We propose a more direct, faster and simpler route BUZ 400 to serve this area. Bus services to these suburbs need to be high frequency, direct and fast as they are competing with car travel on the Centenary Motorway which offers zero waiting time and speeds of up to 100 km/hour."

"As RAIL Back On Track has always said, services must be frequent, bottom line!"
