Meanwhile down in Melbourne, passenger rail growth continues unabated...
Now if we could only get far more services...

More than 200 new services will be introduced on the Frankston, Cranbourne and Pakenham train lines in June to help tackle chronic overcrowding, the state government announced today.

Victorian Transport Minister Martin Pakula said capacity for an additional 14,000 peak hour commuters would be created by "revising the timetable, restructuring stopping patterns and increasing the frequency of services".

The Victorian Transport Plan outlines practical steps to increase the capacity, frequency, reliability and safety of our trains and trams, and move toward a Metro system.

Melbourne's public transport network carries about 450 million passengers each year with more than 200 million of these on trains. This is expected to increase to 300 million train trips within four years.

That's a 50% increase in 4 years. What's the growth rate on trains in Brisbane? We need to do more.
