A Low Loader carrying a large excavator struck the rail bridge over Wynnum Road at Colmslie/Morningside. Looked to me like it was just a 'soft' impact. One lane inbound Wynnum Rd was closed due to this incident.

Translink's App wasn't sending notifications throughout the storm.  Even worse, the status of "Your Services" refreshed however the updated information didn't show.  I thought Translink was being slow to provide updates until I checked the website and realised that the updates had in fact been posted.

I tweeted Translink and the issue appears to be fixed now - however it wouldn't have been good if you were relying on notifications or the service status in the app during the storm.

I've noticed a few times lately that the notifications haven't been coming through.

The 4pm train from South Bank to Ferny Grove did not turn up at South Bank today. There was no mention of this train running late or being cancelled on TransLink's website, both Translink/QR Facebook/Twitter, or the TransLink app.  :(

They sometimes start a new service from Roma Street, which doesn't help people at South Bank.  I've been onto them about this before.  I remember them making an announcement one time after that.  (Something like, "Customers for the Shorncliffe Train please catch the Ferny Grove train and change at Central").  But last week (storm day), I arrived at South Bank to see the next Shorncliffe train missing from the list and there was no announcement.  I jumped on the Ferny Grove train (which leaves 2 minutes before the scheduled Shorncliffe service) and got off at Roma St.  Sure enough, there was a new Shorncliffe service commencing at Roma Street.

I understand the need to start new services at Roma Street, but announcements need to be made at stations such as South Bank and South Brisbane to ensure people can catch one of the other services to Roma Street or Central and change there.

Yes, and they also give themselves a 100% on-time statistic despite the train effectively being a cancellation at Park Rd, South Bank, and South Brisbane. BS!

SurfRail

Maybe they should publish a "services delivered" metric showing which services were delayed or cancelled for every particular station on the network.

That may in fact give greater transparency into the express running issue than just deeming the entire service cancelled or late, because it would identify where the problems keep persistently happening.

No doubt despite this data being readily available and capable of being published with a minimum of fuss, it will be too hard/expensive/embarrassing.
