1. Deregulation of Retail
2. CRR
3. Duplicated Rail track Beerburrum to Landsborough
4. Landclearing restrictions
5. Higher Density living in our Urban centres
6. Allow Supermarkets and Department stores to be licensed to sell packaged liquor.
7. Bus reform in our urban centres (Bne Top Priority)
8. Decriminalization of Cannabis to allow export of Cannabis derived products and divert police resources to other areas. Preventing unnecessary arrests and court appearences
9. Building new base load renewable power stations. Creating micro grids around Qld.
10. 3 years 50% rego discount for people who dump their old polluting cars for new hybrid or electric vehicles.

Oh! Also bottle and container deposit scheme (returning via reverse vending) Single use plastic bag ban.

All of the above would be awesome to be implemented by the end of the year.

All suggestions welcome :)

#1
1. SEQ Regional Rapid Rail
http://tiny.cc/SEQHSR

- Kippa Ring and Beeleigh line (from Kuraby - Beenleigh) disconnected and rerouted to feed into SEQ RRR

- Gold Coast line converted to RRR

- New Sunshine Coast line along a brand new hi-speed alignment broadly mirroring the Bruce Hwy, going all the way to Noosa. RRR trains taking 1 hour or less to reach Noosa from Brisbane.

2. State constitution or similar bill to limit powers of parliament (i.e. restrict retrospective law application, enforce other human rights) that can be checked against in court.

3. NZ MMP or similar style proportional representation installed into the Queensland Parliament.

4. Land Value Tax broadened. Stamp duties, and perhaps others wiped out.

Need your Top 10 LD

Increasing Brisbane's 274 metre height restrictions in various parts of the CBD.

Was updating... SEQ RRR is a network system. You would start with GC first to prove the concept (sorry Fares_Fare), then Sunshine Coast etc.

Would BNE Airport allow higher buildings?

Think it's actually CASA that regulates it, not the airport. I did think I heard something with BCC also agitating for an increase in possible building heights in the CBD, but didn't think the flight safety rules would allow it.
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Thanks. It was pretty ugly and got a lot of criticism but out of something ugly come something much more refined and workable.

Gold Coast line would be easiest and cheapest to do because most of the line is already there. You don't even need the hi speed tilt sets

on opening day either - they could be phased in over time. Major time savings would come from just the new alignment and running

existing trains on it.

If the height was increased for the whole CBD, it then means that Brisbane Airport would have to pay the extra fuel needed for the increase in take off angle which cost millions but I guess you get the money back from tourism and business with the buildings. Right now there are about 4 different proposals (2 approved) that are at the 270-274 metre height.

What about Mount Cootha and a Skyrail/Gondola to the top from the Botanical Gardens below with a break at the cafe lookout? Kuranda Sky rail is broken into a few sections. Mount Cootha would only need Two sections. Mount Tambourine could do with one too. Integrated into Translink then catch the bus below onwards to Nerang Station/Broadbeach
