^ Lets hope they re-introduce the 2nd go-card reader at the bottom of P1 ramp. The queues can be horrendous.

Surprised that fare gates have not been installed in the main entrance. Oh well, this is Queensland.

Would there be any point?  There are 4 access points to platform 1, and 3 to platform 2/3.  If you put a concourse at both Vulture St and Tribune St, you could reduce that to 3 in total, but without that there isn't going to be much point.

They will have designed the entrance to accommodate fare gates as it is now part of the design manual - Narangba, all the new Redcliffe stations etc can be configured this way if desired.  (I'm somewhat surprised they didn't do this at Kippa-Ring now.)

In addition to this my source is still adamant they plan to raise the platform level, even though there are no signs of this happening at the moment.

Well the level the steps, escalators and lifts take people to is the current level of the platform.  As you can see from where the train is stopped, it's also the location for disabled boarding.  You wouldn't even be able to add a hump without having a step or ramp - making the whole design flawed.  (Catch a lift to one level but still require a ramp to get up a bit further.)

This should've been done as part of the original design (i.e. floor level of the new entrance should be the level of a raised platform) with a ramp DOWN to the platform until it was raised to the same height.

Yes, the number of passengers using the ramp demands the return of the second go card reader. As mentioned the queues for the single reader have been horrendous. The ramp is used by passengers walking to/from LCCH, Mater, Somerville House, and St Lawrence's.

Incidentally I had a look at the crowd touching off UP end platform 1 Milton this morning.  Lot better now that there are two go card readers, short queues but flowed reasonably well.
Half baked projects, have long term consequences ...

Sorry if this is discussed in another thread somewhere, but what happened to the upgrade of South Bank Station? Still have temporary shelters on P1, and construction has stalled for quite some time?

Same category as Central I think.

It'd be a lot easier to fund this stuff if we weren't losing money hand over fist fixing the NGRs - or if they extracted a better deal from AJ Group when they built their TOD (ie building next to a windswept platform)

It seems Southbank and Central are on the back burner at the moment. The concourse redevelopment at Central has stalled as it going to be a major transformation that needs a critical partner to make it happen. It's likely to be a major retail overall to entice one or two anchor tenants making it worthwhile. Southbank has stalled due to the need to integrate the station with Metro so no point in doing it twice. The Western side will require adequate facilities to transfer to metro. Escalators New larger lifts and overall platform raising. No money yo!

According to the most recent Metro plans (pre-Bailey's political brain fart), South Bank Station wasn't being modified at all as part of Brisbane Metro - so that isn't an excuse.

State government just stalling again. Sad really, the whole precinct could be so much better integrated, you literally see where Southpoint starts and South Bank Station ends. At least Milton is somewhat integrated.
Is it really that hard to run frequent, reliable public transport?

From what I'm aware South bank station (the train one) was never getting an overhaul for Brisbane metro, even before the state government shat all over it. While I'm a big supporter of the metro, you're being a little too optimistic Verbatim in expecting upgrades to Southbank. I think we will be enduring the annoying trek across the street from train to bus for some time yet
